Our guitar students range from children 6 or 7 years old who are just beginning, to experienced adults from all backgrounds and interests. We have expert acoustic and electric guitar teachers who can teach traditional music notation curriculums, and experts who can teach you tablature or to play by ear. We have teachers for any style of guitar: from classical to flamenco, jazz and blues, modern rock, pop, country and heavy metal. A lot of people ask whether it's best to start on an acoustic or electric guitar—but the basics of the acoustic and electric guitar are actually the same. You can develop a basic foundation of skills on either, and it will stylistically translate later as you work on a more defined technique on one or the other. A private guitar instructor will be able to show you proper playing techniques and methods while giving you hands-on feedback, which will enable a much faster and correct learning process compared to learning on your own or by watching videos. (See our Testimonials.)
Teachers 2 Go exclusively offers one-to-one guitar lessons in the comfort of your home, which is the best solution for most busy parents and adult students. The convenience of in-home guitar lessons allows adult students and/or parents to save time without having to navigate Houston traffic driving to class. When a student is able to maximize his or her busy schedule, it provides more time for practice. In-home lessons also provide a familiar and comfortable environment for learning.
For those who prefer to come to us, we also have instructors who teach guitar lessons at our studio. Teachers 2 Go studio is located in West Memorial near Lakeside Country Club. See Lessons In Our Studio for more information.
Guitar Lessons for Children
We have many students who begin guitar lessons around approximately 7 years old. One factor to take into consideration is the physical development of the hands. The guitar instructor will have to determine whether the child has enough finger strength to press down on the guitar strings, and whether his or her hands are large enough to wrap around the neck of the guitar. Smaller student guitar models are available for the younger ages. Several other factors to take into account when considering how old to start include the child's ability to focus and emotional maturity. For children younger than 6 or 7 years of age, we offer private instruction in piano or general music with teachers who specialize in early childhood music education. Much of the musical foundation gained from piano lessons at an early age will translate nicely to other instruments like guitar when the student reaches 6 or 7 years old.
Adult Guitar Lessons
You’ve heard it before--you are never too old to learn. Nowhere is this more true than with guitar! Whether you are a beginner who always wanted to play, or an aspiring professional who needs to expand her styles or brush up his chops, we can bring you a teacher who is just the right fit. If you’re beginning lessons later in life, you’ll find it’s much like riding a bike once you get past the first three months: you won’t forget after you learn a few chords. We have had adult guitar students who have achieved excellent results from ages 3 to 70+, and some even take lessons along with their kids! We have adults who are complete beginners, some who haven't played their instrument in 20 years, and some who are more advanced students looking to take their skills to the next level and gig professionally. We have a guitar teacher for every age, level, and stylistic interest, and our guitar teachers are professional, reliable, patient and fun with proven methods and the experience to help you reach your goals.
